I went up on Friday at 15.15, my boss was nice enough to let me leave two hours early from work as it saved me 300 kronor, about 30 euro. I got up to Sundsvall at 19.30 and to the apartment at 20.00. We ate a bit and then headed out to meet some friends of ours in the next house, about 20 meters away and a few stairs up. It was great to get to meet many old friends again and talk a bit to them. I stayed quite sober and had a very good time even if the friends who were back in Sundsvall this weekend wasn't there and went to bed around 01.30 or so.
The next day I woke up with an unexpected headache, I had been drinking a reasonable amount of water last night. I headed down to the supermarket 500 meters away to buy some breakfast for us and some Treo headache pills for me. After dumping the breakfast I took the headache pills and went for a walk, my usual method against headache. It passed quite quickly and I had nice long walk. I intended to cross the river that flows through Sundsvall on another bridge than usual, but I had underestimated how far away that bridge was, so far away that I ended up right in front of the ancient gravefield, they had these large burial mounds that I knew about but hadn't really paid much attention to earlier. I had just passed it by on another of my long walks.
Now I took my time checking out a sign with information about how stuff worked back in the time of that king and it was quite interesting. I went up on the grave that is just a steep little hill now and then made my way across the gravefield to a part of Sundsvall I hadn't been before named Granlo that was quite idyllic. I went through it and decided to go up Norra Berget, the north mountain, a bit as Granlo was next to it. I didn't go all the way up but went a bit and then turned around and headed back home, a two hour walk. My friends were out on a trip by car to a very cheap supermarket some kilometers away to buy a lot of stuff at once. They came home thirty minutes after me and then we played a quite interesting riddle game called Portal 2 for a while.
We were supposed to head to one of the large fires I described but I had already been walking and my germans had already seen it last year so we decided to chill until the party next door later in the evening. After a bit of playing, eating and talking we headed to the party and it was once again great. This time "everyone" was there and we had a great party in every way. When I left at 04.30 there were still some people left. This time I had been drinking a bit more was smart enough to put a glass of water and my headache pills next to the couch I slept in.
When I woke up sunday morning I was feeling just fine. The Treo pills went into my pocket and I drank the glass of water as it was. It was just like any other day. I stayed around for a while and then headed for the train home to Stockholm at 14.04. A quite annoying time as I had eaten breakfast around 12. I couldn't really eat lunch already but I didn't fancy waiting four hours for it either, nor did I want to pay the overpriced train prices. I ended up buying two hamburgers to eat while waiting for the train.
When I got back to Stockholm I was met by great weather, unlike when I left. Sadly I was wearing my winter jacket as that's what passed on friday. It was a very sweaty 20 minute walk home, uphill with a bag and winter jacket. When I got home I was met by something as weird as a letter. Who on earth doesn't use facebook or email nowadays? After two glasses of water and throwing my shirt off I read it. It was from a very good friend from Switzerland that I met during my time in Freiburg in Germany when I studied german for half a year who will hopefully be coming to Sweden this summer. His handwriting wasn't entirely easy to comprehend but it was a really great surprise, much much more fun than a facebook message. It made me feel quite a bit less tired after the walk and sad that work was starting tomorrow. - I like my work but noone likes mondays, right? - I'm sure gonna keep that letter.
