After finishing the movie I went outside to go to the supermarket. I realised that the music wasn't coming from my neighbour but somewhere else. It sounded like it came from a hill to the left but I didn't see any people having a party there either. I decided to find out what the music was all about and after going in the direction of it I saw that there was a concert at the nearby football field. Apparently it was Nackstakarnevalen, a carneval promoting peace and unity that I had read about a while ago but then forgotten. The rapper Dogge Doggelito and some other artist whose name I can't recall were performing, It wasn't really my kind of music but I still stayed there for some minutes and it was a good experience.
Nacksta is probably the place in Sundsvall that has the most immigrants. There is also an apartment building for only elderly people so the audience was very mixed. Of course it isn't weird that different people stand next to each other in a crowd, it would be weird if they didn't. I'm not really sure why, but somehow it just looked so uniting. I wrote that people were standing next to each other, but that doesn't really feel like a good way of saying it. I'll change that to that people were standing together. As the carnivals purpose was to promote peace and unity I have to say that it really succeeded.
When I turned around to resume my walk to the supermarket I happened to look to my right and saw the 10m flagpole with a large Swedish flag fluttering in the wind. Some people believe that Swedish symbols and culture is being replaced and forbidden because it insults immigrants, personally I very much doubt it.
The picture doesn't show many elderly people, the reason for that is that most stayed a bit further away from the stage, probably due to the loud music.
Eurovision:
I can't really skip writing about Eurovision completely as Sweden won it. As most people know it was the final this saturday. I can't say that I really liked any song in Eurovision very much. I found Sweden okay but a bit boring, but of course I'm a bit glad we won. Now Sweden has won six times. Ireland with seven wins is the only country that has more.
I've written a bit about immigration in this post. There are many different opinions about how many immigrants Sweden should take in, none that makes you racist by definition. I'm going to add a link to a song that I think people should listen to, regardless of opinion on immigration. The song really made me think a bit and made my eyes a bit wet. It is in Swedish so sadly not all will understand it, but those of you who can should listen.
