A quite good friend of mine is going home to Germany next week. Today, Sunday, it's his birthday so we had a goodbye/birthday party yesterday for him. We were around 20 people and it was quite nice. I ended up playing chess with a nigerian guy, just like I did on another party some months ago. That time I lost, now I won so it's Nigeria vs Leo 1-1. Apparently chess is quite popular in Nigeria. At 00.00 we sang happy birthday in four or five different languages. Then we had some weird german tradition when you turn 25 including socks on a rope. Socks because you get called an "old sock" when you turn 25 apparently.
After that we went inside again and time flew by, talking german for hours is quite a good way of improving the language. More and more people left and around 06.10 the six of us that were left decided that it might be time to go home. Then the birthday kid suddenly came up with a very bright idea. "Hey, why don't we take a bath in Sidsjön?". I figured that it was about time for a bath outdoors for me. the first one this year And well, it was his birthday so three of us decided to join him.
Sidsjön, the lake in question, is about three kilometers away, and it's mainly upwards from where we live so the walk took us quite a while. The forest that we went through was quite beautiful tho, and as it was dawn it wasn't dark anymore. At 06.50 we arrived at Sidsjön. The reason I know the time so well is that I sent a few Snapchats right before going into the lake. I think it was around +3 in the air and the water felt much colder. It was probably one of the shortest baths I've taken. Off with the clothes, down into the water, stay underwater for five seconds, then up again and get dressed as fast as possible with chattering teeth.
I actually didn't feel that cold when we walked back to Nacksta, the same goes for the other two bathers, the last guy chickened out and skipped getting into the water. Cold or not we were very happy to be on our way home. I think we got back at around 07.45. I took a shower and ate a bit before I went to sleep. The last time I looked at the clock before falling asleep it was 09.30. The sad thing is that I woke up two hours later and couldn't fall asleep again. I wasn't really tired either, the day rythm playing me a prank I suppose.
Now I'm finally starting to get really tired and as I'm working with a project this month and don't have any lectures or so I don't have any particular time that I need to get up. I'm going to bed after finishing this post and eating some yoghurt. This night I doubt I will only sleep two hours, I'll give myself the luxury of sleeping until I wake up and feel like getting out of bed.
Good night!
