I guess it might sound good but I'd much rather start earlier in January as listening during the lessons is my main way of learning, and that will be very ineffective in this course. and the task of staying attentive from 08.15 to 16.15 or later is not easy either. We do have a one hour lunchbreak and 15 minutes breaks every now and then but it's still far from optimal. However the worst thing is that I will forget so much during Christmas and new year due to all the other things that will be on my mind.
I do have two weeks after new year to learn it, which is quite a lot more than usual for students but by then I will have forgotten so much of what I had already learned. The teacher doesn't use Powerpoint presentations much either, which work as great summaries of the important stuff while trying to recall later. One last bad thing: Usually we can study together before a test but now that we don't have any lessons before the test people - and I - want to stay home for as long as possible so we wont get that opportunity.
However I can't just complain in this post so I'll add that the teacher holding the course is really great, one of my favourites. Today was also more fun than I thought and some parts of the subjects were quite interesting. There were also two guest lecturers, of which one was okay and one very interesting to listen to.
As a last good thing: I went bowling today with some friends which was fun, and on the way back we got a great view of the northern lights which is always nice.
