If the doorman had understood Swedish (they were both Swedish) he would probably have taken it cool as they didn't really say anything bad to each other, he would have been amused like I was. Unfortunately he didn't and slightly loud voices outside the entrance to the club that might be saying anything isn't really good so it was time to move on for my friend. My other friend was also getting a bit tired and had school tomorrow unlike me who could sleep for as long as I wanted so after a little while I was alone. Sounds like a sad birthday? Well, it wasn't really. It was a great chance to meet new people.
Soon enough I had made some new friends and when the place closed we headed out looking for a new destination. The place that someone thought of sadly turned out to have a ladies night. Time to move on? Well, it would have been if one of the guys hadn't mentioned that it was my birthday and that I should get in anyway. I sighed when he said it but two of the clubs visitors asked the doorman if he couldn't let me in anyway. He seemed to consider it for a moment and then said "You can get in as an employee". I remember the words quite clearly as they had me very confused when he said them.
I got no experience as a doorman and only five hours experience as a bartender (Free one day course when I bought a trip to Italy.) so I wasn't sure what job to do really. Turns out a ladies night means that the ladies need entertainment, meaning beautiful guys dancing on stages in "challenging" clothes. At first I thought that this was ridiculous but then ... What was the worst that could happen? And it would be a birthday to remember. After checking with the doorman exactly how challenging and getting confirmation that it was "look but don't touch" and no stripclub I went backstage (and asked another employee again and got the same answer) to get changed. A few minutes later I was out there on the stage with the other guys bringing the entertainment of the night to a club full of ladies.
I think I was there dancing for an hour or so. I didn't get paid but I probably skipped an entrance fee of like 20 euro and that's fair payment for one hour. The funniest part was that I actually got offered to return and do it again the next time, which will be in a month or so if I remember correctly. I think I'm going to politely decline but it sure was an interesting one time experience. The picture is of course of my beautiful dancer outfit.
