I'm going to miss quite a few things in Stockholm during my stay here. One is "Mälarhöjdens dag", a day of celebration where I live that takes place two weeks before I'm done with school. There's a market, local artists performing, chessplaying, and most of all a large race for anyone who wants to join it. This day is for Mälarhöjden, my area in Stockholm, and the same goes for the race. Last time I ran it I came fourth, due to taking a wrong turn. I lost one minute and was still only three seconds from third place. I really want revenge and to get that third place.
A race that takes place one week later is Stockholm Marathon, which I'll miss too. I don't want to participate, I don't think my body would have any problems making it but I'm not sure that I got the mental strength to stand four hours of running yet. However my good friend thinks he has, and I believe him. We've known each other for about six years, and we've been running together for almost as long. I really wish I could be there when he ran the marathon and cheer him on so he can get a time under four hours.
Well, at least I got the second best thing, I got to prepare him for the race. We met trice in Stockholm. First we ran together for some good old stair running. There is a 200 step stair in Mälarhöjden that we like to use for training, it really gives you spaghetti legs when you're done. The second time we just met up in the evening to meet and talk about stuff with two other friends.
The third time was running again, this time with another friend of ours too. After 2 km of running we got to a place where we used to train when we were in top shape, something my friend needed to get into. We took a break there before agreeing to run our old course at top speed, just like we used to do. It was the fastest two kilometers I've run in quite a while, that's for sure, unlike when I run solo I managed to give it my absolute all, and feel like I had trouble standing for a while after.
I did lose with half a meter in the end, which is great as my friend is the one who's supposed to be in shape for running 42 kilometers, not me. After the run it felt wonderful to have done a really great race for the first time in quite a long while. Now it's time for me to "run" the two last months of school, just like I ran that race.
Oh well, enough whining. Summer is coming and there are great things in Sundsvall too. The 25 April there's going to be a masquerade, the theme is heroes. I'm really looking forward to it, but ... what should I wear? If you got any ideas or know any sites with cheap costumes, please write in the comments. I've decided that my budget is 35 euro.
See you folks
