There were 10 of us, it was all a bit awkward from the start but we got used to it quite quickly, we were all in the same situation after all. Doesn't mean that we were used to this kind of acting tho, only one of us had ever been involved in bdsm before. For the rest of us it was an entirely new experience, even if we were just wearing the clothes. The one who had done it before was a fifty years old - my guess - man. Now that I think about it I should really have asked him which role he prefers to play, that would have been interesting.
This man apparently trained crossfit with a personal trainer to lose some weight and gain some muscle. I mentioned that I'm a runner and we quickly ended up in a conversation about training and how to get motivation, something I miss as well sometimes, I'm quite far from my best shape. The ten of us who had signed up for this job had many surprisingly normal conversations while waiting for our turn to be filmed.
Our roles were to be visitors at a local bdsm club and mingle with each other while the main characters in the series had a conversation, I can't spoil too much as I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to spread the plot of the movie. But we basicly sat there on couches or walked around and pretended to talk to each other. That is one of the hard things while recording, looking like you're having a lively conversation but being completely silent. The actors voices have to come across clear without any sound from anywhere else so the background noise that we extras make is on another soundtrack and recorded at another time. That's almost always the case in movies where the characters are talking with background noise from other people.
Another guy I talked to was from Pakistan so we ended up talking a bit about his country and how it was to live in Sweden. He'd been here quite a while and he had a studio where he made music. He had done some jobs as an extra before, unlike another participant. She had some experience in hobby-theater but had never been on tv before so I have to say that it was a very brave start, especially as she was only 18.
Meeting new people has to be one of my favourite things with the acting, I've made many friends through it and am actually going to meet one of them this Saturday, when we'll be in a zombie walk through Stockholm together with 800 other zombies. The worst things with acting? Well, when you have to meet up with the sound guy to say your lines once again as there was some background noise the first time. That actually happened yesterday, we redid some lines for the zombie movie that I've mentioned in earlier blog posts. I was supposed to be scared and scream, apparently I played the role so well that I got stiff with fear while screaming "run, run!". Sadly I played it too well, today I got a stiff neck that's been aching more or less all day. I'm keeping it warm with a scarf so I hope that it will get better soon.
I don't wanna end this post with a negative comment so I'll just add that I'm really glad that I started acting and havn't ever regretted it. I recommend you people to sign up for some site in your country or city. Everyone can have fun as an extra.
Gnight :)
