This Saturday I woke up with a really strong headache. My strategy when that happens is to take a glass of water and one of my headache pills, then go for a 15 minutes walk, that usually helps. I did plan to do the same thing but after twenty minutes I ended up at the river Selångersån that flows through Sundsvall. If i went to the right I'd come to my school, going there and back should work. If I followed it to the left I didn't know where I'd end up.
I had tried to run to the end of it once in winter, however that was winter, and the snow was so deep after a while that running didn't really work, so I had to turn around. I figured that that couldn't be the case anymore as I didn't see much snow lying around at all, it's April after all. I decided to explore.
It was a 4 km walk but for some reason it feels like time passes very fast when I'm walking with a headache. Before I knew it I'd arrived at the small lake Selångersfjärden, where the river ended. I planned to turn around there. My head felt better thanks to the headache pills and fresh air, and would probably be fine when I came back to Nacksta.
I don't really know why but after five minutes of hesitation I decided to walk around the lake, it wasn't very large after all. But after a few hundred meters I saw a map of the place, that showed me that there was no way of walking around only the lake. Instead I'd have to take a longer way around, and so I did. To my surprise I didn't get bored at all while walking.
When I came back to the river and was ready to head home I started to feel a bit tired and wished to be home soon. Most of all I was getting hungry. Three minutes after where I go to the left if I want to head home there is a burger place, Big Boy. I decided that I deserved it after my walk. Those burgers felt like the best things that I had eaten in a long while. After all I hadn't had any breakfast, and when I looked at my watch I saw that I'd been walking for quite a while, it was 13.03 and I left home 09.50. When I got home after eating my burgers I checked how long I'd walked and it turned out to be 14 km.
My headache was long gone and I'd had quite an adventure so I guess I somehow turned a tough morning into a really good day. If I will repeat the walk next time? I don't think so, but I might run the path some time as it is a quite good place for running now that the snow is gone.
Behind me, next to my right ear on the other side of the lake you can see the top of the church that I walked past. Quite a long walk :)
