Well, as those of you that read this blog regularly might know I'm an e-sportsman. Right now my game of focus is Hearthstone, a while ago it was World of Warcraft, or WoW. There you have a certain kind of teams or groups. Often they're just so you have some nice company and help for stuff. Those groups can be up to 1000 players large. It sounds great but with that size you need rules and people to uphold them to avoid fighting. You also need to organise stuff for everyone (who wants to join). That might also include other teams, requiring even more cooperation, and that is not a one person task. I got no idea how many hours we have been writing and talking to each other over microphone but it's very very many.
Taking care of this is how we met and decided to fix stuff together. I've always preferred to be the second in charge instead of having the very highest responsibility so my friends were the ones in charge of different teams I've been in. If you cooperate and work that closely together for five or six years without too much trouble you need to get along very well.
These two are far from the only ones I would like to meat outside of a game but it is the two ones that I have managed to organise it with so far. So how did it go meeting "for real" after having talked over the internet for six years and nothing else? Well, we talked like the old friends we were after pretty much one minute. This second time it didn't take even that minute for me of course, for my two friends it did.
So what did we do? Well, we went eating some seafood by the beach, I got some excellent squid rings and my friends got some other kinds of fish. After that we were just chilling out with time pretty much flying. Unfortunately I had to go back to Amsterdam quite early due to some things that I had to finish before Monday (today).Still, it was really great. Now we have all stopped leading those teams. Nothing lasts forever and other stuff in real life simply got in the way. Our work together might be over, at least for now, but I very much doubt the friendship is going to be. So much for sitting at your computer being useless for your social life :)
The only thing I regret about the meetup is that I completely forgot to take any photos, bit hard to illustrate this post so a happy smiley will have to do for a happy story.
Oh, in my last post I also promised to give a few of my happiest moments in life, at least the ones I can recall. Well, you'll have to wait a few more days for that post. Writing it now but seems a shame to group two different things together like that. Just give it two days or so.
