What I wasn't used to was the place we were, Hellasgården. Unlike Björknäs IP or Sätra IP where I usually work there was no athletics arena. We had no place for athletics at all, just a gravel football pitch and nature. It wasn't as bad as it sounds or seemed at first tho. The pitch worked fine for many games as well as shot put and javelin throw. There was also some sand of the type that is used for long jump. Even if it wasn't meant for long jump it worked fine. There was also an outdoor gym that kept the kids entertained, very useful for when we had time that the sport hadn't really been filling out.
The kids kept being an unruly bunch compared to most groups but they were also sweet of course, somehow the ones that are the hardest to control are often the ones that are really the sweetest. I had one girl who liked to climb whatever was around and didn't like coming down, she wasn't always a fan of the sports we were doing and was quite hard to convince. She also tended to influence some other kids the same way. A tough case even if she did listen when I really told her to.
Well, when they were supposed to be running she decided to take a break and stole my bottle of water with me noticing this warm day. Annoying? Well, not really. I didn't notice it until she returned with my bottle filled with a mix of flowers. It wasn't that hard to stand being thirsty for a while. When we were done there I went back to our trainer room and took out the flowers and cleaned up my bottle but not before taking a photo with it. I don't take many selfies but this memory was worth keeping.
When friday was over I said goodbye to the kids with hugs and lifting them upside down for one last time - they love it - I took the bus to where I usually change from bus to subway but met some friends there instead for a classic Swedish fika. We skipped the Sweden - Italy match and sat down outside some café talking about stuff. After an hour or so we broke up and found out that me and one of my friends were heading the same way with the subway. We usually don't but he was going to meet some people. Turns out it was people I know and would like to meet too so we ended up eating pizza and then watching a movie and some game. A pretty nice evening that was over at around 23.
Saturday was free.
Then Sunday, work as a sports reporter for Nacka Värmdö Posten again. The editing went a lot smoother than last time and I think I've pretty much got the hang of it. My boss seems to agree so everything is looking good there. I can't say I was overly thrilled to head there after an exhausting week as an athletics trainer but it's good experience and I will really enjoy the five weekends when I will be responsible for the sports pages without supervisor nearby. It will be a good experience. It wasn't that lovely after just having had saturday free tho as my next week as a sports trainer would start on monday. But still ... I got two great jobs and one - the journalist job - is even well paid. This will be a nice summer!
