This game with the "Go" is a bit different from the one kids used to play on Gameboys. You still walk around trying to catch little cute (mostly) monsters with superpowers by throwing balls at them but in Pokémon Go you actually walk around for real. The phone uses a gps to track where you are on a real map and only by walking around can you find Pokémon to catch.
That you are able to see nearby Pokémon on your map might explain why people get stuck on fences etc, some are more rare than others so really enthusiastic catchers have gone to great lengths. If I'm one of them? No, not that enthusiastic, but I do play. I have also gone to two events for it. There are certain items that you can use to help everyone around you and being many at one place is also believed to make more and rarer Pokémon spawn and that was all it required. Some Facebook event made by a random person made about 500 people go to Kungsträdgården in Stockholm and there has been plenty other evets too.
I had some fun there and made some good catches. I'm not extatic about the game but it's nice nostalgy and quite fun. I also have a lot of friends who play so why not? I'm not really the kind of person that needs to get out and walk more but it doesn't hurt. As long as I do look out for cars and such, which I do. The phone vibrates when a Pokémon shows up so no need to look at the screen constantly.
I'm currently on a holiday on Öland, Swedens second largest island, and it helped me catch the quite rare Hitmonlee. More about being on Öland in the next post, I'm staying until Saturday.
Will be a lot of fun to write about as well as a lot of Pokémon to catch, five of the eight people I'm here with are playing too. My goal will be to get a Nidoking, which has always been my favourite Pokémon. Maybe because I and one of my first girlfriends used to play with toys of it and its female counterpart Nidoqueen, which she had. Naturally they were in love just like we were, how sweet. I don't have it yet as I said so the pic is of my favourite so far. For those of you that play: Of course I'm Team Valor!
