I've never seen all the Star Wars movies before, believe it or not. This Saturday I decided to change that. I started grilling with the exchange students at half past five and stayed there for two hours. Then we went inside to watch the four movies, it was a quite long evening, I think I went to bed at around 04.30. I have seen at least two movies before, and I know the plot fairly well. It's hard not to know about classic scenes, like when Luke Skywalker suicides.
To my surprise it didn't get boring to watch four of them in a row. I actually saw the last two the next day after eating breakfast. I found the movies quite good but there are some things that I find a bit weird.
Why do they build everything with explosives?
I assume that they do because most of the time it only takes one shot for the entire place to blow up and I see high explosives as the only possible explanation. If I built a spaceship I'd want it to be strong against attacks, especially in a world where everyone constantly gets shot at. If they are hightech enough to have energy fields they have to be good enough to avoid that one single shot at the right spot can blow a gigantic spaceship up.
Why are jedi knights so important?
Sure, they fight well can can smash quite a lot of stuff into pieces but one of the best ones met his equal in a random bounty hunter who had some guns and such. Couldn't the bad guys just drop a bomb on them? After all they seem to be just as vulnerable as any other human to damage. And as the bad guy got big balls of death, that are able to blow up an entire planet in one shot, it can't be very hard to find something strong enough to blow some jedis up.
And lastly, I have to say that the force is a real douchebag.
Annie sees his mother in pain in some visions that the force gives him, which of course worries him. He goes home and finds out the they were true. His mother dies right when he finds her. I can't say anything bad about the force giving him these visions. But the next ones I find really mean.
I mean, the next visions are of his wife dying, which makes him want to learn how to revive people. Not a bad thought but sadly reviving people is stuff only the dark side does so he has to find a new teacher who knows that, and he finds one. As he starts messing with the dark arts he gets crazy for power and loses his conscience. When his wife doesn't like this he messes her up quite a lot and makes her so sad that she dies a bit later. Meaning that his practise of the dark arts is the reason she dies. However the reason he practises the dark arts is that he knows that his wife will die. So that Annie gets the dream of his wife dying leads to him killing her. The dream is a self-fulfilling prophecy, and the reason he gets the dream is because of the force.
Conclusion? The force is a douchebag.
Poor Annie ...
