I've had time to meet some friends since I came here. This saturday I watched the first part of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish qualification competition for Eurovision Song Contest. I can't say that I'm very impressed and as usual the only song that I found a little bit more than average didn't move on. At least the company was nice.
Yesterday, Tuesday, I went with my cousin and some others to a bar that had a gaming event that evening. We didn't know much about it but it certainly wasn't what we expected. There was just a small sign that distinguished the bar from an anonymous cellar. We had to duck while walking down the steps to the entrance and duck at certain places inside the actual cellar bar as well. We had expected a lot of tables with people playing different games but there were three.
We still had a pretty good time taking a few drinks and playing a random old fighting gamethat I can't recall the name of, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. I have to say my cousin had the edge on the latter two. Probably because he had three brothers to practice against his entire childhood while I only played when I visited him. At least I got a few wins in Mario Kart.
A bit after 23 we took the subway, at the central station we said goodbye and took different subways, a nice evening out that wouldn't make me overly tired for work at 9.00 the next day. That is when the tragedy happened. With a tragedy I don't mean something that will ever have a big impact on my life, I mean these small things that makes you just want to scream straight out. I am sure we've all had a few of these. They don't matter much but feel like the world at the moment.
My case was the picture that accompanies this post. I decided to buy a little chocolate bar while waiting for the train to take me home. After inserting my 17 kr the machines block system spins around making the bar fall down for me to pick it up. Or well, that's what it should do ... The bar stayed up there, so so close to falling down but stayed. I spent the three minutes until the subway arrived shaking that machine all I could. I'm not sure how many of the other people there were thinking I was trying to steal from the machine but probably quite a lot. I was furious when I entered the subway without success, even if I stayed silent and with a poker face as there were other people there.
Now I don't care that much but for the time being it was pure rage and sadness, I really wanted that chocolate to the left. I am never ever buying from that particular Selecta machine again, that's for sure.
